GET ON THE BUS!

A Documentary Film of Black History Travel and Discovery by Andover Media

The documentary film, Get On The Bus, gives you a seat on the bus as you accompany 56 pilgrims from a soil collection ceremony in Chestertown, MD in May until the bus pulls back into Chestertown after their emotional, five day journey. Follow along as young and old alike stand in the very spot where four young girls died in a bomb blast on a Sunday morning and where school children were hosed with water cannons and jailed for peacefully demonstrating. Accompany them as they walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge and contemplate the courage it took for those who made that same walk in 1965 knowing that they’d be facing down the police, dogs, and teargas. As they walk through the Legacy Museum and Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, feel their sadness, anger and growing resolve. Listen to them process their thoughts in real time together during group debriefing sessions in the evenings. For these 56 people, this bus trip was a life changing experience. In the words of Bryan Stevenson, “You don’t change the world with the ideas in your mind but with the conviction in your heart.” Get On The Bus shows how that kind of conviction is fostered.
