ISAAC: A Musical Journey was commissioned by the Kent Cultural Alliance for the Chesapeake Heartland Project.  ISAAC tells the story of Isaac Mason, who escaped slavery in Chestertown, Maryland, became a leader in the African American community of Worcester, Massachusetts, and self-published his autobiography in 1893. Composed and written by Marlon Saunders, an accomplished performer and native of Kent County, Maryland, the musical reimagines the remarkable life of this incredible man.

The video below is a recording of the musical's world premiere, performed in Washington College's Gibson Center for the Arts on June 24, 25, and 26, 2022.
