Civil War service record of Samuel Mander, National Archives

 

Congo and Beck had many descendants who bore the Mander name. This document from the National Archives reveals that their great-grandson, Samuel Mander of Kent County, fought in the Civil War as a soldier in the U.S. Colored Troops. He was wounded during the Siege of Petersburg in 1864 and died three months later, age 20.
